PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY … the love of knitting/crocheting combined into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice which reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace as well as in celebration and joy.

The Knitter’s Prayer ...

May this shawl be for you a sign of God’s loving, healing presence.
May it warm when you are weary.
May it surround you with encouragement when you are discouraged.
May it assure you of God’s care and comfort when you and your loved ones are troubled. And may it remind you that you are always safe in the arms of Jesus and you are surrounded by the prayers of others.

Membership ...

is open to all members of our parish. We service the needs of the community. It originally began with a group of CWL ladies about 15 years ago. The CWL is definitely a supporter of this group and in recent years funding has come from the parish Noodle Club and from the Knights of Columbus! We make tuques and scarves for the Christmas Hampers and St Vincent de Paul as well as baby blankets and comfort shawls for the sick.

Some uses for the shawl ...

Shawls … made for centuries universal and embracing, symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving, God…

Wrap, enfold comfort, cover, give solace, hug, shelter and beautify!

Those who receive shawls are uplifted and affirmed as if given wings to fly above their troubles!

Shawls can be used for… undergoing medical procedures; as a comfort after a loss or in times of stress; during bereavement; prayer or meditation; marriage ceremonies; birthing, nursing a baby; bridal shower or wedding gift; during an illness and recovery, holiday gifts!

A blessing or ritual many be offered when the gift is presented!
