Liturgical ministries are the roles that make Sunday Mass possible: the lectors who proclaim the Word, the servers who assist at the altar, the musicians who lead our song, and the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion who help distribute the Eucharist. These are not just jobs. They are forms of service and prayer.
Lectors proclaim the First and Second Readings at Mass. Training covers proclamation, preparation, and the theology of the Liturgy of the Word. Ideal for those comfortable speaking in front of others.
Altar servers assist the priest during Mass. Open to young people who have received First Communion. Regular training sessions are offered throughout the year.
Our music ministry leads sung prayer at the Sunday Masses. Musicians, cantors, and choir members are welcome. Rehearsals are held weekly. Ability to read music is helpful but not required for all roles.
Assist in distributing the Eucharist at Mass and, when needed, bringing Communion to homebound parishioners. Requires completing a diocesan training and commissioning.
Greeters welcome people as they arrive for Mass, a simple but powerful ministry of hospitality that sets the tone for the whole celebration.
Speak with the parish office or approach the coordinator of the specific ministry you're interested in. All new ministers receive training before serving. Some ministries (like Extraordinary Ministers) require diocesan commissioning.
