The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA, formerly RCIA) is the process through which adults come to full membership in the Catholic Church. Whether you've never been baptized, were baptized in another tradition, or are a baptized Catholic who never completed your sacraments, this is your path. It is not a class. It is a journey of faith, accompanied by a community.
The OCIA journey typically runs from fall through the Easter Vigil, when candidates receive the sacraments of initiation. It includes gatherings for inquiry and discussion, the Rite of Welcome, periods of catechesis, and the Scrutinies during Lent. Sponsors (members of the parish) walk alongside each candidate.
